Great news for Edinburgh's green spaces! Our member group Earth in Common is expanding its amazing work beyond Leith with two new urban crofts. They'll be transforming former bowling greens in Victoria Park and St Margaret’s Park into vibrant hubs for community growing, learning, and connection.
This is a fantastic opportunity for local residents to get involved. The team has two new Urban Croft Development Officers, Tom Watson and Natasha Saw, who will be leading the charge.
Want to help? First volunteer sessions are starting this September to tidy up the new sites. Everyone is welcome—just turn up ready to work, rain or shine. No registration needed!
If you can't make it during the week, they're also hosting weekend events. The first is "Dig, Create, Celebrate!" at both new sites. It's a day of community and fun, featuring family-friendly activities like hula hoop making and arts & crafts, along with a chance to explore the soil they'll be working with.
This is a brilliant initiative that will create more green spaces and strengthen communities across the city. Get involved and help make it happen!
